A People’s Climate - Trailer
Shilpi Chhotray [00:00:04] The climate crisis is here, and the solutions being pushed, they're failing. Tech gimmicks, shallow policy fixes, and corporate greenwashing won't save us. What will? People power.
Patrisse Cullors [00:00:16] As a collective, we have so much more power, and that's what social movements do.
Shilpi Chhotray [00:00:26] The communities on the front lines are fighting for their lives and our future. They're the ones with real solutions, not just for the 1%, but for everyone.
Nick Tilsen [00:00:36] We could say, hey, it's too dangerous to organize under these conditions. It's too risky to do that. But the reality is if we don't rise up and we don't speak truth to power and we do organize in these moments, then there won't be a future for our people.
Shilpi Chhotray [00:00:52] My guests have gone toe to toe with the biggest polluters on the planet—
Diane Wilson [00:00:56] It ends up with people like us. And sometimes it makes me mad. It's like, what are agencies and our elected officials for? What are they doing? That was an illusion that really burst for me.
Shilpi Chhotray [00:01:10] —Built movements in the millions, and restored entire ecosystems.
CLIP [00:01:14] For the first time since 1912, salmon are now freely flowing through the Klamath Basin and tribes there are celebrating.
Shilpi Chhotray [00:01:21] The future we need is being built from the ground up. Not by corporations, not by billionaires, by us, the people demanding justice, reclaiming power, and rebuilding what's been broken.
Amy Bowers Cordalis [00:01:35] In that moment, I just thought, there is balance. There is peace. It was this deep, deep peace that I had never experienced before.
Shilpi Chhotray [00:01:51] From Counterstream Media and The Nation, I'm your host, Shilpi Chhotray. Welcome to A People's Climate.
