Co-created with a wide range of partners and producers, we bring together long-form reporting, narrative journeys, and collaborative media initiatives.
Each Story Studio project takes a distinct form such as investigative reporting, toolkit, or resource, and is guided by Counterstream’s approach to storytelling as a shared practice.
Story Studio projects are intended to circulate beyond a single platform or moment, reaching the communities most impacted by environmental injustice.

The Margin
The Margin is an independent, nonprofit publication that was housed at Counterstream from October 2023 to January 2026.
During this time, we produced 12 powerful stories over three issues that center the people and places most affected by environmental injustice in the United States.
Power in the Storm
Made in partnership with NAACP, Power in the Storm is a 70-page toolkit filled with resources, knowledge, strategies, and organizing tools needed to build resilience, demand equity, and hold all levels of government accountable.
